Deaf Development Programme

Field Work – in two parts

Two days each week, the field workers – along with an interpreter –  in Kampong Cham head out to more remote areas of the province to teach sign language to groups of deaf students that have never before had the opportunity to learn sign language.  Months of preparation must occur – working through commune leaders, village leaders, and hearing family members – to arrange for these classes.  Over the next few days, follow (here on our blog) the journey it takes to make these classes happen.

Field workers travel across rough roads and sometimes by boat, just to reach the class locations.
