International Week of the Deaf Begins!

Today, we kicked-off the International Week of the Deaf festivities here in Phnom Penh with an opening ceremony attended by H.E. Sem Sokha, Secretary of State of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation, other government officials, Deaf community members, and their family and friends.  Some of the members of the Deaf community signed the national anthem of Cambodia, speeches were delivered by both a DDP student and the Mr. Sem Sokha.  After the ceremony, we also had a screening of Emerging from the Silence along with other short films on being deaf in Cambodia.  Check out this short documentary below, as well as photos from the Opening Ceremony and a clip of the national anthem.
