Multiplication and Plans for the Future

Many of our Basic Education students never had the opportunity to attend school before meeting DDP.  This past week in Kampot, the year one students were working on their six multiplication table.  With the help of visual aids, sign, and manipulatives, the teacher explained that 6×2 is the same as 6+6 is the same as 12.  The students seemed to catch on quickly and were broken into groups to see if they could work out the rest of the multiplication table on their own.

This same day, the year two students were talking about a visit from the Job Training project staff.  They officially graduate from Basic Education in December and are starting to think about what they will do next.  For some, they may apply to our Job Training project to learn a technical skill.
