Deaf Development Programme

Workshops in Kampot

This past weekend, DCC in Kampot led a workshop for more than 40 deaf people based on the Good Touch, Bad Touch flipchart put together by our partner Love 146. DCC field worker Chamroeun from Phnom Penh and Kampot field worker Sarith went through the power point telling the story of students that suffer sexual abuse at the hands of a predator who is then brought to justice when the students come forward and talk to a trusted person that calls the authorities. After the presentation, the group answered some questions and then acted out the scenario themselves (to help ensure understanding). The second workshop of the day covered reproductive health.  And, later that morning, Chamroeun led a workshop on the history of Cambodia in the 1970s.  Due to limited access to information for Deaf Cambodians, DCC strives to fill that void as much as possible by offering workshops each weekend on a diverse range of topics.
